Texas, it’s the second most vast state in the USA (after Alaska) and it’s bigger than France. It’s quite a great number of miles on the road, mostly deserted ( until one doesn’t get nearer urban areas ). One thing is funny : ghost towns, from a little abandoned house or restaurant to a whole village.

I don’t know if you have ever seen the movie « The Hills Have Eyes » but it’s what it makes me think of. There’s many cows, bulls, donkeys, horses and buffalos on the parcels that run alongside these roads. Sometimes, it isn’t easy to stop in those places. Regretfully (but, I’m always scared to be shot by a farmer, in case of a misunderstanding ^^ ).
