Last week, Christian, Mathieu and I, were invited to visit the lair of the House of Guerlain in Orphin. It was nothing other than a time travel ! We met Thierry Wasser, Guerlain’s nose, he’s the Alain Ducasse in the Perfumery world.

One thing surprised me, to see that the world of perfumery isn’t that chemical environment I’ve imagined ! The job of nose can be compared to that of Indiana Jones ‘s, travelling everywhere to find new scents and fragrances. Adventuuuure ! I also learned how the Civet was produced, now it’s a prohibited ingredient ! I’ve even smelled the civet scent ( I’ll spare you my comments !).

We did lots of Blind test, it’s really funny because most of the pure products really …. stink and you can’t even recognize them ! The last place we visited was the boutique on the 68 Champs Elysées …. which is just wonderful, 17 sorts of marble, walls covered with fine gold and this made me feel dizzy … and the Guerlain perfumes (more than 800 since 1828 !).

At the end of the day, I had a splitting headache, the smell was all I needed to be worn out. And so was my little nose !
