Canyon de Chelly
Uncategorized
On my list of things I thought I could bring back from our trip, there was an Indian headdress called native American Warbonnet. I’ve always thought it’s a sumptuous piece. Our trip in the Amerindian land was a perfect opportunity to find one.
We saw many of them, sometimes very beautiful recent reproductions and sometimes not so beautiful ones, bordering on cheap disguise. That’s why I’m very moved (and proud) by this find : a genuine Warbonnet from the 19th century. It’s remarkably well preserved, the feathers are a bit tousled, it strongly smells of old leather and I like to think that it’s still haunted by the spirit of its first owner. No matter what, it’s impressive … Then we went to take a few pictures in the Canyon de Chelly before putting it in a big well-cushioned box that will be travelling by plane with us !
